Donald C. McKay

Donald C. McKay

Donald C. McKay brings more than 35 years of courtroom and litigation experience to his personal injury practice. Throughout his distinguished career, he has conducted criminal and civil trials before judges and juries and has appeared before the British Columbia Supreme Court, the British Columbia Court of Appeal, and the Supreme Court of Canada.

His current practice is dedicated to representing individuals who have suffered serious injuries, including traumatic brain injuries, chronic pain disorders, psychological injuries, and severe orthopedic trauma. Having previously represented both plaintiffs and insurance companies, Donald possesses a comprehensive understanding of how personal injury claims are evaluated, negotiated, and litigated.

Since joining Preszler Law, Donald has chosen to focus exclusively on advocating for injured plaintiffs. Donald has a particular interest in cases involving sexual assault and institutional abuse. His extensive trial experience and effective cross-examination skills enable him to advocate forcefully for survivors seeking justice and accountability. While he enjoys the challenge of trial work and is an experienced courtroom advocate, he also recognizes the value of resolving claims through mediation and negotiated settlements whenever doing so serves his clients’ best interests.

Understanding that legal proceedings can place additional strain on people already coping with significant challenges, Donald and his team strive to handle every aspect of the litigation process with care and professionalism. This approach allows clients to concentrate on their recovery while knowing their case is in capable hands.

A lifelong British Columbian, Donald was born in the East Kootenays and raised on Vancouver Island. He is the proud father of four daughters and grandfather of two grandchildren. Away from work, he enjoys boating, fishing, and cheering on his favourite hockey teams.
