Evan Lay

Evan Lay is a litigation-focused associate whose practice is rooted in strong courtroom advocacy and thoughtful client service. After completing his articles with Preszler, he joined the firm’s British Columbia office and was called to the BC bar in November 2020. Evan appears regularly before the BC Supreme Court on both chambers applications and at trial, bringing careful preparation and a steady presence to each file.

Originally from Atlantic Canada, Evan earned his B.A. in History from Mount Allison University in New Brunswick before obtaining his J.D. from Dalhousie University in 2019. During law school, he concentrated on litigation and trial practice and worked with the Dalhousie Legal Aid Society, where he represented low-income clients in criminal defence, administrative, and family law matters. In that role, he appeared as a student before the Nova Scotia Provincial Court, Nova Scotia Supreme Court, and various tribunals–experience that helped shape his practical, client-centred approach to advocacy.
