Farzad Balandari

Farzad Balandari is a lawyer at Preszler Law, where he maintains a broad civil litigation practice with a particular focus on courtroom advocacy. Farzad has considerable courtroom experience, having appeared before both the Supreme Court of British Columbia and the British Columbia Court of Appeal. He has experience conducting trials before judges and juries, as well as appearing on contested applications and appeals. His litigation experience includes Alesu v. Palomares, 2026 BCSC 1238, which involved a substantial claim for loss of future earning capacity, and Dahlke v. Davidson, 2023 BCSC 1884, which involved disputed liability and challenging factual circumstances.

Farzad’s practice encompasses a wide range of complex litigation matters, including historical institutional abuse, long-term disability claims, occupiers’ liability, municipal liability, product liability, assaults involving security personnel and bouncers, serious dog attacks, and medical malpractice. His experience in medical malpractice litigation includes Ali v. Abu-Laban, 2025 BCSC 1157, which involved contested issues of breach of the standard of care and causation. He has a particular interest in historical institutional abuse litigation.

Farzad’s primary professional interest lies in advocacy and courtroom litigation. He is committed to pursuing his clients’ claims through trial where necessary and believes strongly in the importance of effective courtroom advocacy. His approach to litigation emphasizes careful preparation, attention to detail, and the effective presentation of his clients’ cases.

Farzad obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of British Columbia and his Juris Doctor from the University of Victoria. During law school, he completed a co-op placement with the Architectural Institute of British Columbia and worked at the University of Victoria Law Centre, where he represented clients in family and criminal law matters who could not afford legal counsel.

Following law school, Farzad returned to Vancouver and completed his articles at Preszler Law, where he continues to practise as an associate.

Farzad is fluent in Farsi.

Outside of work, Farzad enjoys playing soccer, running, and spending time with his nieces and nephew.
