Sherman Hood

Personal Injury Lawyer

Assistant:

Rumour Baldock

Sherman Willet Hood is a lawyer with extensive experience representing clients in serious bodily injury claims. His practice focuses on personal injury matters, including motor vehicle accidents, slip and falls, and sexual assault claims.

Sherman was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia. He received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Simon Fraser University in 1995 and later earned his law degree from the University of Nottingham in England in 2000. Since being called to the British Columbia Bar in 2002, Sherman has focused his career on litigation involving injured people and complex claims.

Before representing plaintiffs, Sherman gained significant experience working on the insurance side of personal injury litigation. He began his career as in-house counsel at the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia and later worked with two prominent insurance defence firms in Vancouver. In those roles, he handled complex personal injury matters and developed a strong understanding of how insurers approach claims, assess risk, and respond to injured individuals.

Since 2015, Sherman has focused exclusively on plaintiff-side personal injury work. His background allows him to approach each case with a strategic understanding of the issues insurers may raise and the evidence required to support a claim. He uses that experience to advocate for clients who have been injured and are seeking fair compensation.

Sherman is committed to helping clients feel informed and supported throughout the legal process. He understands that an injury claim can involve physical pain, emotional stress, financial uncertainty, and disruption to everyday life. His approach is grounded in careful preparation, clear communication, and a strong commitment to each client’s best interests.

When an insurance company does not offer a fair resolution, Sherman is prepared to take a case to trial. He has acted as lead counsel in several complex personal injury trials in the British Columbia Supreme Court and has obtained favourable outcomes for his clients. His notable decisions include Hanger v. Shin, 2019 BCSC 99, Konnert v. Buonassisi, 2019 BCSC 1648, and Knight v. Zenone, 2022 BCSC 99.

Sherman continues to advocate for injured clients with professionalism, determination, and a strong understanding of the insurance claims process through his practice at Preszler Injury Lawyers.

Outside the office, Sherman enjoys spending time with his wife and family. He is an avid supporter of the New York Mets, San Francisco 49ers, and Philadelphia Flyers, and enjoys spending time at his remote property in Northern Ontario.
